Wow, I can't believe all of the changes that have happened in 2016. I went from a girl painting furniture in my garage to opening up my shop in Vickery Village within a few months. I had no buisness plan, intensions of starting a shop or experience in managing one. Let's just say I was "winging" it to say the least. I wanted a shop for 10 years and when I stumbled upon the Village Mane Salon and told my husband about the opportunity, he said go for it. So I did. I learned fast and worked hard. I turned a passion and a hobby into a buisness. I am so very grateful that I had people believe in me and support me during this journey. It was very stressful at times but more rewarding than I could have ever imagined.
I built a customer base and offered the community my services and products that I belived in. I had great support from the girls at the Village Mane Salon and I could not have done this without them. I am forever grateful to those ladies. It has been almost 1 year since I opened the doors at Painted and I am proud of what this little dream has become. I am consistently busy with commission work and have been able to offer people top-of-the line products so that customers can also transform their furnishings too.
I also participated in a Vintage Market which was a huge success. I can't wait to do another one in the future. So now that Painted is an established buisness, I am ready to take it in a new direction. In November, Painted will be moving to Howard. The one thing that I found out real fast is that customers want to speak directly with me regarding the paint lines I retail and that having my buisness closer to home would solve my dilemma. I can't be at 2 places at one time and my family comes first. I also still work a full time job so working 7 days a week trying to manage both along with being a wife and mother was very tiresome to say the least.
So in November, Painted will be moving to my new studio which will be located at our new home. It is a seperate structure and will be open 7 days a week by appointment. I will still offer home decor, Wise Owl Chalk Synthesis Paint, Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint and furniture. I will be adding all of my products into my web store. The only change will be the location and that customers will set up appointments to pick up products or I will ship them. I think this will be the perfect solution to my need of being there to answer customer questions and providing the top quality customer care that I strive for along with juggling life and my obligations to my family.
I will also have a "classroom" for classes, private events and gatherings that will be more functional than my current location. As much as I adore the charm of Painted's current location, not having running water and climbing a flight of stairs is not the most ideal location for a furniture shop. So I leave you with knowing that Painted will continue to grow and expand it's services and I can't wait for you to join me on this journey as I enter 2017 with a new space and a new plan.
